Overview of Environmental Legislation, Regulations, and Standards of Turkmenistan and International Financial Organizations (2001)
Turkmenistan became an independent state in 1991. From the very beginning of its independence the country persuaded with establishing a policy of neutrality and diversified relationships with the world community. This, and the country's richness with natural and mineral resources, primarily oil and gas, have made Turkmenistan very attractive for foreign investors.
At the same time Turkmenistan has proceeded very energetically with forming of its legislation system intended to protect political, economical, and environmental interests of this newly independent country. In addition, Turkmenistan has taken vigorous part in the international legislation process by participating in various international conventions and agreements.
Therefore, the purpose of this Project was to provide a detailed overview of the current Turkmenistan environmental legislation, regulations, and standards, which will help the ESI client in Turkmenistan to maximize its performance while ensuring the statutory and regulatory environmental compliance.

ESI collected all available legislative documents including those of Turkmenistan, international organizations, international conventions, regulations, guidelines, and standards. All documents that were available in electronic form, ESI placed on a computer Compact Disk (CD) for future use by the client. ESI has at his possession all those documents that are available in hard copies only and they can be obtained from ESI.
