Development of a Set of Environmental Documents for Drilling Operations on a Offshore Platform Rig Located on the Turkmenistan Shelf of the Caspian Sea (2000)

ESI performed this Project for Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd., a major oil company conducting exploration and production of two oil fields on the Turkmenistan Shelf of the Caspian Sea. ESI was tasked to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment of development/appraisal drilling operations on the LAM oil field and to prepare all environmental documents necessary for obtaining a permit from the Turkmenistan regulatory authority.

ESI implemented an Environmental Impact Assessment in accordance with all applicable Turkmenistan and international environmental legislation, regulations, standards and practice. In compliance with the Turkmenistan environmental requirements ESI prepared the following documents:

  • An Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed operations;

  • An Ecological Certificate;

  • An Environmental Protection Plan, which incorporated a comprehensive Environmental Monitoring Program, as required by the Turkmenistan Law.

 ESI submitted all these documents on behalf of the client to the appropriate Turkmenistan authorities and the permit was granted to Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd.
